The Asuba Practices Are a Very Powerful Way to Play With Our Mental Habits

The asuba practices are taught in the context of the first strategy which is to replace an unwholesome thought with the wholesome one. So they're particularly used when the mind is caught in a kind of craving greedy lustful selfish mode and it's imposing a perception of beauty on something that doesn't intrinsically have it. It isn't about looking at somebody else that we might find attractive and try to see them as ugly. It's about recognizing that the construction of beauty is a concept within our own minds.
