The Challenge and Threat State

The concept that when we're placed in a demanding situation, that sometimes we're able to rise to the occasion and other times we perform below our potential. The work of Jim Blaskovich and colleagues was interesting to us because it provided a physiological response that enables us to distinguish those people that we thought would do well compared to those who were threatened. We think there are three things that matter here: one's control approach focus, one's confidenceFocus on what you need to get done now rather than focusing on what you haven't done yet. And then probably we'll start to explore updates in the theory and its applied implications.
