Is There a Place for Contrast?

If you're scared of the cold water and don't like it, you can do contrast bathing or just do exposures where you do small amounts of time in. One way to protect against that is to go into the cold for two, three minutes, come out and then go back in. It gives the chance for the skin to rewarm, but you don't get the same rewarming at the muscle level. So if you do that, it means you can actually potentially achieve lower muscle temperatures without having to get to really, really low skin temperatures.
