My dissertation was about mental models and how people acquire an understanding of complex system. So the nature of the question was very much inspired by the work that was around me. But there was still enough of a basic psychologist in me that I developed a little micro world to test it. And so the micro world was a micro world of an electronic circuit. So how do people develop an understanding of how that electronic circuit works? It was a very strange thesis, but I managed to get through it.
