Introduction
Calf injury is on the rise. What assessments can we do to identify whether this is an area that needs additional focus? It's probably easier now to start standardising calf tests, particularly seated calf-wise metric tests. We use an anosicotic test lying in a prolonged position so face down leg straight at a speed of 30 degrees a second and working from 30 degrees plantar flexion to 20 degrees dorsiflexion. For distance runners we'd like to be you know 150, 160, 160 percent body weight and above for sprint out needs being getting close to 200 percent body weight.
