Why Regular Donors Live Longer

There's some really interesting evidence suggesting that people who regularly give blood live longer. Each additional donation per year was associated with a 7.5% lower risk of dying from all causes combined in the years to come. There could be some reverse causality there but I do think that based on the mechanisms that are at play they're speculative. Most women have reproductive age regulating lose blood when they have their periods and ultimately women go on to live longer than men.
