For me personally, when u're trying to get at those arobic numbers, i prefer to do em on the flats. Most people can put out more power on a climb than they can on a flat road. But threshold heart rate is threshold heart rate. It doesn't vary that much. As you get fitter, it's going to stay the same. It's your power that's going to change. If you can get one o test and determine the threshold heart rate,. I do a little bit of a cheat with my athletes, where once i'm very confedent in their threshold heart rate, if they go out and do a steady effort  where they are holding
