Is There a Right to Choose Surrender?
I'm not really sure we even can choose surrender. I think what's more like it chooses us. And have seen thus many times with people who are dying. At some point in the dying, we're just too exhausted to keep up the fight. In those moments i've seen ordinary people develop profound insights at the end of their life that have them emerge as something larger and expansive than they were before. This regularly occurs for people in the final months or weeks, or days, or sometimes even moments of their life. The value is not how long the enjoyed the experience, but that the possibility for transformation exists. If that possibility exists, then will it exists now.
