How to Manage Overstimulation
The best thing that you can do to manage overstimulation is to understand what your personal threshold is because it's going to be different for everyone. This is the perfect time to excuse yourself to go to the bathroom, maybe offer to take the dog for a walk or just step outside and take those slow deep breaths. Once you're a bit calmer, you can decide whether or not you can handle more of the same stimulation. The things in our environment that tend to naturally cause stress to the body are already adding to your sense of sensory overload.
