Reddit's Decision to Disable Ads on Third Party Apps
Reddit has been providing this API for free forever they're basically subsidizing the cost of running these apps for the app developers and then the app developers get 100% of the profit. The price that they're setting isn't anywhere near like the market value or the actual cost to Reddit. You can look at the Apollo developer referenced Imger which is an image sharing site that's pretty similar to Reddit in terms of like user base and media use and stuff. Their cost for every like 50 million requests to their platform is around 160 dollars or so compared to the 12,000 Reddit once the charge now. So Reddit is clearly not making these changes in like good faith they're not trying to work with
