Most people are going to have some brown fat and most people can get better through cold exposure, deliberate cold exposure, and of course some heat exposure too if they want to. So exposing yourself to cold, even cold air temperature, you can increase the amount of brown fat that you have so the volume. But you can also increase the efficiency of the brown fat cells which I think was mostly what we saw with our winter swimmers in my study. And this is one of the main outcomes of this study is that you will have more efficient brown fat and you will have increased metabolism, but also you will be physically warmer.
