Avoid Nuclear War - Avoid Points of Failure
If you want to avoid nuclear war, the number one thing you can do is avoid war in general. Avoid a great power conflict with high stakes. That means finding ways to reach accommodations with countries that you don't agree with on all kinds of things. If you find yourself in that war, you better hope that you have well designed systems and safeguards so that your nuclear systems fail safe 100% of the time.
