Keeping Glutamate Exceptionally Low in the Brain

For something that has signaling value to actually have that value, its normal concentration anywhere where it might represent that signal has to be exceedingly low. The brain is very concerned everywhere to keep the extracellular concentration of glutamate exceedingly low because it's outside the cells at synaptic cleft. Each of these layers has control mechanisms of what does and doesn't get through.
