Napoleon's Last Scent, March 2nd, 1795

On March 2, 1795, Napoleon was offered command of the army of Italy. The government had grown dissatisfied with the army's commander, General Scharer. Bonaparte desperately wanted this appointment, so he leaned on Barra to lobby on his behalf. He took a week to settle his affairs in Paris, including marrying Josephine and spending a measly three-day honeymoon at his new wife's house.
