Getting Anger at a Thought
Life consists of pleasant and unpleasant. Our practice is being willing to open to both. We can see different forms of aversion arise when we think about unpleasant situations or things that have happened in the past that were unpleasant. You're just sitting here, minding your own business, feeling your breath, and then all of a sudden you'll remember something that was difficult. And the mind, all of a suddenly, aversion is there,. anger is there, the ill will is there. What's really happening in that moment? We're getting angry at a thought. The thought of anything is not the thing. It's a thought. There's still a lot more to do as well.
