Taking Children Seriously
When my first child was a tiny baby, like first born, I was speaking at mother and baby coffee mornings and conferences. One of them actually said to me, come back when your baby is eight months old. I had to smack her by then and then you'll be singing a different tune... It was just awful. Nobody agreed at all. And the few people I found who did agree didn't have children. So that's how it all started.
