The Complexity of Food and the Gut Microbiome
There's an ongoing discussion about how we can aid our gut microbiomes through food. We really need the whole foods in order to promote the gut, you say. A carrot is just vitamin A, but a carrot has 800 chemicals in it. And we don't understand how they work together and how they provide to nourish all our gut microbes. You know, people have been looking at fecal transplants to try and see if they can replace this complexity of putting thousands of species back into some patient from another human. But I don't think there's going to be a one single bullet for all these problems.
