The amount of force you can produce depends on both mass and acceleration equally. Most people only focus on how much weight they're lifting, the mass side of the equation. The point is to train your muscles and your brain to fire as quickly and explosively as possible. You will never see me programming a speed or power based movement for more than five reps at most,. It's usually more sets, fewer reps and it's never with anywhere near maximal weight.
