The Dog and the Boyfriend
Amy had reason to be concerned about his ex because she had a history of sabotaging his relationships including his marriage so there was all kinds of reasons for concern there. Amy is right that it's never just about the dog and I remember that her boyfriend had so much guilt that he was holding about having disappointed his wife and leaving the marriage. So I think there were so many things going on for him in addition to the bigger issue of really cutting ties with that part of his life and being able to move on to a healthy relationship with Amy.
