The Low German Dialects
Low german includes the modern atherlands, coastal lowlands of northern germany and parts of denmark. By the second or third century a d there were a variety of germanic tribes in these regions. The most prominent of these tribes were the saxons, angles, jutes and frisians. All of these tribes participated in the general migration to britain, beginning in the fifth century,. We know these groups today as the anglosaxans. But they represented a smaller portion of the total number of immigrants.
