What Can We Learn From Extreme Environments?

I was drawn to extreme environments because it's just that idea of understanding well, how do people work effectively as a group when they're under immense pressure and stress? I think the key thing for me was so much of the team literature is born out of business studies or management journals looking at how to improve workplace productivity. We tend to think that studying those very sterile and sort of clean environments is going to provide findings that are going to be applicable to extreme situations. And I found that it's actually quite the opposite. The microcosm kind of experiences that people have where you see all these sort of social dynamics at play, that actually has more application to people who aren't in those situations
