In the age of tyrants, it was normal practice for leading men to seek marriage alliances in other states. Three of the four tyrannies that we have discussed had links with Athens. A possible insight into how Theogonus managed to gain control of Megara might be also give an insight into how Greek Tyranos became a tyrant.
