The Importance of Narrative Hedging
The more you actively avoid controlling disease, the more everybody knows they can trust you. So this is what I call narrative hedging, right? This is true with coronavirus. You're still, when the stakes get high and the chips are down, more likely to actually control disease because you are, in fact, a human being, right? Like, or so other people should model. It all gets very convoluted and complicated. But basically, the core story is if you want to succeed climbing a bureaucracy, you do this by forming an implicit conspiracy that's kind of explicit.
