The Difference Between SRE and Security
With security, there's something more mysterious about it. And if we pick into why, it's because security deals with pure risk. There is no upside to these bad things happening to you. I think there are cases in security where choosing to have less protection does have upside. Not deploying an agent. You get 5% of your compute budget back. But not requiring MFA. You get 20% lower shopping cart abandonment.
