The Importance of Sensation in Meditation
Sensation and mindfulness of sensation is a basis for a lot of apassana or insight meditation practice. By paying attention to the sensation, what you do is cut off the discrimination of your mind. So in eating now or in eating any meal, you can be aware first of the sensation of yourself sitting there. The sensation on your tongue, your teeth as you chew it, feeling it all the way down into your stomach. That's another way to look at eating as a meditation.
