A lot of my lab's focus was on metabolism and how metabolism and exercise and disease all work together to impact the way your DNA is expressed. So technically I was working on one protein that was going and docking with the DNA and turning it on or off so just kind of a primer you know every cell in your body has the exact same DNA but your brain cells read the brain chapterYour heart cells read the heart chapter and your muscle cells read the muscle chapter. All those signals kind of converge on these things called transcription factors which are proteins that pick up signals from for many different stimuli. When a transcription factor is activated it will move into the nucleus where the DNA is stored and literally hug available
