When I think about marketing under a CRO, marketing then ends up being just a support function for sales. 99% of the time it's not what they actually asked me for. Marketing really should be a more strategic partner. There's things that are not just about sales that marketing is doing too. And so marketing moves away from being a strategic function to just being a support function.
