The Complexity of Diets

With diets your microbiome shifts to whatever you're eating so it can change within 24 hours obviously microbes reproduce really quickly. What you eat for lunch will have an impact on the different populations of microbes that you have by dinner time. A sudden shift from one diet through type to another will cause a shift in the populations in your gut which could be uncomfortable likewise I always say to people when they are trying to eat a higher fiber diet to encourage a better microbiome that the best idea is to do that steadily and increase slowly because if they just suddenly switch to having 50 grams of fiber a day then their microbes will go nuts  they'll produce lots of gases and it will be painful and very unpleasant.
