The Problem With Changing Sleep Schedules
There's a whole group that got into polyphasic sleep as you mentioned a few years ago and Tim Ferriss talked about it in four hour body. A lot of inventors and artists like Tesla and Salvador Dali did these very strange sleep schedules because one they didn't have to interface with the world. And two, they found sometimes they would do long sleep and then very long week periods because they wanted unbroken consciousness for a while. It takes a while to get to that place where you are really in a flow state and you want to work in that flow state until you're until you recognize your performance is no longer there. That might not fit sort of standard sleep weight patterns.
