Strong runners get injured just as much as weak runners. Tons of evidence to show running is better than strength training for increasing performance. If you want to get your tendons really strong, do some calf raises really slow and really heavy,. They're going to adapt really quickly. You can do 30 reps of those, like three sets of 10 and you'll get a better benefit than running a half marathon.
