The Role of the 4HNE Marker in Glucose Detachment

4HNE is produced by the oxidation of linoleic acid and cardiolipin molecules. It's not a proxy for consumption, it's a proxy for oxidation of the fat. HNE damages pyruvate dehydrogenase and causes it to become less optimally functional if not entirely dysfunctional. One study that I looked at examined all the proteins in the cell that are damaged by HNE.
