The Predictability of Algorithms
Sally Kohn: Algorithms don't care about individuals. They care about demographics, right? That's where they make their money is being able to predict a demographic. And I think that this dovetails really nicely with an idea from the predictive processing realm of cognitive science. But on the other hand, if algorithms start shaping not only humans, but culture itself, and they sit upstream of that process of cultural evolution, which I think is a very simple case to make, right?
