Speech Reading Is Not Lip Reading
Speech reading is the newer term now in the USA and Canada for what we formerly called lip reading. Technically lip reading is watching the lips to extract whatever speech information you can while speech reading is watch the lips tongue teeth cheeks eyes facial expression gestures body language anything else that can give clues as to what the person is saying. But I think too, this incessant need to rename and rename and that somehow makes somebody more dignified or takes away the blow of this thing never really works. We've renamed something that means exactly the same. What is anyone going to stop you and go actually it's it's featuring somebody.
