How to Clean a Kettle

We had a galvanized circular tank with a grid that we would spread fresh hops out on this grid. As we emptied the gouriness strike at the kettle, the work would run through the hops and through this little grid. Then we pumped it with this little centrifugal pump up to the hopjack. That was the extent of cleaning, really. We had one fermenter, a sustainable steel fermenter, but the welding was just as primitive as it could be. It just filled with nicks and nooks and crannies. I can remember at one point I got so insane over the sanitation in the fermenter. We went in with welding torches.
