Sometimes people have a different view of what was said, and it's partly because memory is so quickly fallible. The other thing is that when emotion gets in, like, your brain slows down, and you're much more likely to remember how you felt treated rather than the specific facts. And we each feel really motivated to be right about what actually happened, because it's part of our identity. It doesn't matter who wins that debate. The question is, can we just clarify what you think you said, least what you meant, and what i thought you meant? And why does this matter?"
