The Importance of Approach Focus in Coaching
A fear of failure is often reported as a driving force. People have a motivation to succeed because they are worried or they have a fear of failure. I would like to say one thing about an approach focus, rather than an avoidance focus - we can get a bit muddled up with that. Being worried about something can motivate you in order to go to training,. There's a fear of what might be coming up on the weekend in competition. But so long as that fear becomes a stimulus to something positive, look, I'm going to make sure I get that first tackle in and maintain my focus there. That fear of failure or worry or rumination or concern, whatever people want to call
