Is There a Predictor of Hypertrophy?
A lot of people give advice on the internet about how to train. They assume that what works well for them is just kind of generalizably the best way to train. I think we simply don't know enough about hypertrophy to claim that a particular training variable is the most important training variable for everyone at all times. There've only been a handful of studies looking at predictors of whether people will respond better to one style of training versus another.
