Two thousand, 450 undergraduates at vasser pay full tuition. That comes to 60 million dollars a year in revenue. The rest of the students are receiving some kind of financial aid. There's weigh more of them, but they contribute much less to the bottom line. So vasser makes up for that lost revenue money from the endowment.
Bowdoin College and Vassar College are two elite private schools that compete for the same students. But one of those schools is trying hard to address the problem of rich and poor in American society—and paying a high price. The other is making that problem worse—and reaping rewards as a result.
