Self compassion is paying conscious attention to how we relate to ourselves. It's really a way of in many ways reprogramming what we the messages we were giving, given when we were young. As an adult you can give yourself "adult earned secure attachment" which means that you feel worthy and you trust that your needs will be met. But once you can meet your needs yourself then you can learn to trust that.
