Is Sumerian Related to Other Languages?
Sumerian persists long after it stops being spoken kind of like Latin did in the Western world. No alphabet unfortunately. It's written phonetically and he's arguing that it was these texts were being used or being written for people who did not know Sumerian but so they could still pronounce it in religious rituals. They don't need to understand what they're saying. They just need to be able to read it and pronounce it because the gods then will understand the actual words.
