To lose weight, you need to burn more calories than you eat. The accepted formula by science is that 3500 calories equals about one pound. So if you eat 3500 calories more than you burn, you will gain about a pound. A lot of people don't believe in it and use the fact that labels can be up to 20% inaccurate on calories as an excuse not to exercise.
