With digital, it's very simple. I just highlight passages and I write myself little notes underneath each that have acronyms that I use frequently for certain topics or shorthand that I have developed for myself. But reading is really or understanding really, which is what reading should be a conduit to is a form of pattern recognition. And so especially if you read as a writer, so somebody who not only needs to walk away with that but ideally wants to record what those patterns and themes are.
