Is It Discipline or Self-Discipline?

I think a common refutation to the point you just made about not controlling children would be that this is discipline. I don't even like calling it self-discipline because to me there's a whiff of self-coercion suggested by the word discipline. If you can't persuade them then what you're doing is just coercing them and that is not going to help in any way, it's just going to throw a spanner in the works of the growth of knowledge. When you are engaged in a problem-solving creative conversation, we don't want to be adding the baggage of branding the other person willfully evil or suggesting they are ill-intentioned.
