The Pilot Trial of Mechanical Ventilation for Critically Ill Adults

More than 3 million critically ill adults receive invasive mechanical ventilation each year in the United States alone. Yet, despite millions of patients receiving oxygen during mechanical ventilation and clinical care each year for decades, the oxygenation target that produces the best clinical outcomes has historically not been though. My portion of today's live stream will present the background methods and results of the pilot trial. I'll deliberately defer most of the discussion to Dr. Young as the editorialist and our expert panel to talk about strengths and limitations of the trial.
