Is There Any Intelligence in the Tree?
The fact that natural things have genuine tendencies toward good goals shows that they are under the influence of an intellect. Such tendency must originate from an agent that does know what a cow is, an intellectual agent. What acts with intellect can at least try to proportion its act to the new conditions. A cypress transplanted from the swamp to the desert will not suddenly adapt to the low water supply. It will behave as it always does and it will die.
