How to Slowly Exhale a Feeling of Safety and Comfort in Your Body

Find the most comfortable sensation in your body wherever it is and just try to spread it, suffuse it through the body. See if you can find the sensations of breathing in any area where it doesn't feel tight or claustrophobic. At this point, see if you can bring to mind any place or person that conjures up a feeling of safety,. The longer the exhalations, the more we begin to engage the parasympathetic nervous system which helps us settle down. And after we do any of the stages of the practice, we're going to return to this inner resource.
