There are a bunch of different risk factors underpinning atherosclerosis. APO-B is a superior marker, usually, to LDL cholesterol. People with PCSK9 loss of function have more LDL receptors on their liver than other people. And as a result, they can pull more of those LDL and APo-B containing lipoproteins out of circulation.
