Indo European Words for Trees

Beech trees were an ancient food source for agricultural animals. In prehistoric times, the beech tree was not found in any areas east of a line around the lithuanian coast line on the baltic sea. This is yet another clue to the location of the original indo european speakers. The inda europeans also had a word for apple in its original meaning as late as the 16 hundreds. Apple was a generic word for fruit, including all kinds of fruit other than berries. It's only taken on its more limited use for a specific type of fruit in the past few centuries.
