What Happened to Marvel in 1999?
Marvel went into bankruptcy in 1999 because the bubble in comic books had long passed. The bulk of Marvel's income in the 1990s came from comic books, from physical comic books. After a two year bankruptcy he succeeded in getting the judge in the case to accept his plan for the company going forward. Mr. Pearl Mutter owns a toy business as a licensing deal with Marvel and he sees Marvel's going under so he brought Marvel out of bankruptcy.
