Worldwide we spend half a trillion dollars on farm subsidies. The great majority go to the biggest, richest land owners. Subsidies do almost nothing to reduce the price of food. And they are almost entirely stimulating environmental destruction. Many people in this country can't afford to eat cheap or expensive food.
